The strong wind is creating problems in different areas of Italy today, from North to South. In the hamlet Saint Elias of the municipality of L’Aquila, in the afternoon the wind blew the roof of a nursery was exposed which collided with the moving train and then ended up on the railway track. A piece of sheet metal broke away from the roof of the structure. The convoy, which left L’Aquila and headed for Sulmona, had time to stop the journey. The Fire Brigade, the police and railway personnel arrived on site. For about an hour, rail traffic remained suspended until the train reached Paganica, where passengers were transported to Sulmona with a replacement bus.
