Altamura elderly people at the cinema for free with “Spring at the cinema”: the program – AltamuraLive.it

Mayor Vitantonio Petronella and the councilor for social policies Angela Miglionico announce the start of an initiative organized for the city’s elderly (women aged 60 and over and men aged 65 and over). It’s called “Spring at the cinema” the municipal administration program which provides free access to Mangiatordi Multicinema Theatreto the projection of 7.00 pm (according to the programming of Mangiatordi himself) for 5 evenings:

• 22 – 29 April 2024
• 8 – 15 – 20 May 2024

The cinema project for the elderly arises from resolution no. 19 of 21 February 2024 of the municipal council which set the objectives of increasing opportunities and moments of socialization and involving the third and fourth age in cultural activities.

Mayor Petronella and the councillor Miglionic they declared that they were particularly happy in giving life to this project which is starting in an experimental phase. They also explained that the council’s policy is based on the need to involve the elderly in social and cultural life because in this way the risk of isolation and depression is combated. Indeed, by acting on the emotions and shared experiences that cinema can offer, various positive effects are achieved. For example, new friendships and interpersonal relationships can be born and the degree of real social inclusion can increase. Therefore the mayor and councilor extend the invitation to enjoy beautiful evenings at the cinema.

To access the cinema on the days indicated in the calendar “Spring at the cinema”based on the methods established in collaboration with the Planning Office and the Social Services, it is necessary to book each time and collect the ticket by contacting the social secretariat service which is active from 10 am to 12 pm in the multi-purpose social center for the elderly (in the “Viti Maino” complex) in viale Martiri del 1799, providing you with an identity document. All elderly residents of Altamura can participate, even those who do not attend the Center.
