A 29-year-old worker was seriously injured because of a wooden panel which broke off from a roof under construction a Cinisello Balsamo, in the Milan areafor the strong wind which is affecting Milan and the province. From an initial reconstruction, the man, a resident of the condominium, he was covering the roof in preparation for bad weather which should also arrive in Lombardy, when some wooden panels, due to the wind, flew from a roof under construction on the 9th floor inside the courtyard of the building, hitting it.
The man suffered facial injuries and head trauma and was taken under code red to Cinisello hospital. A 66-year-old man was also injured in an attempt to help him and was taken to San Gerardo in Monza under the green code.
Yellow alert in Milan for wind until midnight
It continues until midnight today, Tuesday 16 April, l‘yellow alert issued by the Functional Center for Natural Risk Monitoring of the Lombardy Region for wind in Milan. The Municipal Civil Protection Operations Center is active for monitoring any critical issues. During the alert period, it is recommended not to park under trees in parks and tree-lined avenues and near construction site scaffolding, outdoor areas and tents. It is also important to ensure the safety of objects and vases on balconies and all artefacts that can be moved by the wind.
I am hundreds of firefighters intervened due to the strong wind that has been hitting since this morning Milan. The gusts caused the fall of trees, branches, road signs but also tiles, shutters and even a chimney, which ended up on a car parked in via Alessandria around 11.30. The firefighters’ interventions were concentrated mainly in the south-west area of the city. The yellow alert has been issued until midnight today.
