Descriptive text here

The Empathic Movement, founded in Southern Italy (epicenter Cilento with its innovative Cultural Pyramid) in 2020, continues its fascinating process of evolution and affirmation in contemporary history. Mentioned in recent months in flagship programs on Raiuno, Raidue and Raitre, the movement is now bringing forward new presentations.

Three meetings have been scheduled for the next few months. It starts on Wednesday 17 April at the University of Salerno (which is also the University where the founder Menotti Lerro obtained two of his four academic qualifications: his first degree in Foreign Languages and Literatures and his PhD in Comparative Literature); A second appointment is scheduled for on May 9th at the Turin Book Fair Where Menotti Lerro and Antonello Pelliccia will present their “New Manifesto on the Arts” (written in 2018) conceived as the major theoretical and symbolic basis of the Movement itself, which then materialized in 2020 with the publication of the volume The Empathic school (Ladolfi publisher) edited by Menotti Lerro.

The third meeting will then be held in June at the Braidense National Library for the presentation of the Movement and the volume The Empathic Movement released in England and the United States in 2023.

Below we recall the key points of the Movement:

EPICENTER: Its epicenter is outlined in Cilento, precisely in the “New Cultural Triangle of Ancient Cilento” founded by Menotti Lerro, which has in Omignano – “Country of Aphorisms”, Salento – “Country of Poetry” and Vallo della Lucania – “Seat of the Center Contemporary of the Arts”, its leaders.

IN CONTEXT WITH THE STAGNATION ARISING FROM HYPERTROPHIC CONTEMPORARY INDIVIDUALISM, THE NEW CURRENT PROPOSES:

– A revival of classical studies as the basis for a cultured art, to be innovated through awareness, invention and study.

– The rejection of the principle of “Tabula rasa”, underlining the importance of tradition, while trying to unmask any theoretical or applicative limits.

– The principles of indivisibility and interdisciplinarity of the Arts.

– The search for the symbolic figure of the “Total Artist” (in this regard, see also the story concerning the new “Myth of Unus” written by Menotti Lerro).

The Total Artist is also understood as the fruit of empathetic sharing between artists.

– The overcoming of the Western scientific-specialist model and therefore of the logical-rational approach.

– The rejection of the principles of “univocity of vision” and instead embraces the principles of “point of view” and “fragmentarity”.

– The denunciation of the phenomenon of excessive influences between artists, amplified by the immediacy of technological means of communication.

– It puts experience, imagination, feelings, talent and study at the center.

– An artist figure most involved in civil society.

– The development of emotional intelligence through the arts.

– The development of arts and culture through emotions.
