The undersecretary of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers with delegation to the CIPE, Alessandro Morelli, announced today an investment of one million euros to improve roads in Molise. Half of this resource will be used for the maintenance of existing roads, while the other half will be used for the construction of new works.
The government intends to improve the quality of life and ensure safety and traffic flow through maintenance interventions. At the same time, it is planned to invest in new infrastructure, recognizing the importance of inland regions such as Molise.
Although the topic of a freeway or motorway in Molise has been discussed for years, Morelli believes that conditions are now favorable to start the project. He expects that this new infrastructure could be a sort of transversal, connecting different areas and promoting the economic development of the territories involved.
The Councilor for Infrastructure, Michele Marone, underlined the importance of these resources for the relaunch of the region, working incessantly to improve traffic for both companies and citizens.
The President of the Region, Francesco Roberti, highlighted the importance of connections between the hinterland and the main arteries, such as Biferno and Trigno, to counteract the isolation of the region. The Region has allocated a further 100 million euros for this purpose.
Through development and cohesion funds, the Region will invest in development consortia and industrial areas, guaranteeing roads to connect to the main ridges, such as the Adriatic and Tyrrhenian ones. This will allow us to modernize the main communication routes, connecting the internal areas to the main arteries and promote the economic development of the region.
