More than 20,000 wine tastings in over 4,000 BtoB meetings which recorded a level of buyer and seller satisfaction of over 92%.

These are some of the numbers that photograph the success of the 2024 edition of BuyWine Toscana 2024, the largest BtoB showcase of Made in Tuscany wine which closes today in Florence, promoted by the Tuscany Region together with the Florence Chamber of Commerce and organized by PromoFirenze , with the coordination of communication, press office and social media, organized by Fondazione Sistema Toscana.

On 10 and 11 April at the Fortezza da Basso in Florence, 240 producers, a third of which were organic and biodynamic, met 193 international buyers from 40 countries, starting negotiations worth over 3 million euros. The 2024 edition of BuyWine Toscana saw the important return of Asian markets, including China, as well as large delegations of buyers from the classic markets for wine made in Tuscany, i.e. from the USA, Canada and Europe. There was also particular interest in South America and India on the part of the Tuscan producers who brought 1,500 labels of 51 denominations to the Fortezza for tasting.

This year the Tuscan wine production represented at BuyWine was over 38 million bottles per year, a considerable number overall although the event confirms its vocation as a BtoB dedicated in particular to medium-small producers in Tuscany. In fact, 72% of the sellers present in Fortezza have a production of up to 100,000 bottles per year.

The preparatory sessions begun in recent months were faced with great activism by the operators. The matchmaking mechanism, based on an information platform “fed” by the profiling data carried out by the operators, by the follow-ups collected, as well as by the “likes” expressed by buyers and sellers (17,000), has thus generated the appointment diaries, with a “perfect matching” percentage of over 75%: an excellent basis for success confirmed by the two days just concluded.

The satisfaction expressed by buyers and sellers on the meetings held was over 92%. The participants stated in 94.7% of cases that they had started excellent business relationships thanks to BuyWine, an event that strengthens and confirms its leadership among the Italian BtoB events dedicated to Tuscan wine this year too. Finally, 83.6% of buyers rated the wines as appropriate for their markets, reinforcing the excellent expectations that had already emerged in the phases preceding the event and the concrete marketing prospects in their countries.

Once the tasting session in Fortezza da Basso has concluded, some buyers will have the opportunity to participate in specific Wine Tours to the origins of winemaking. Between sea and mountains, those organized by the Chamber of Commerce of North-West Tuscany: “Heroic viticulture. Wine and the mountains” and “The wine coast. Vermentino”. The Chianti Classico and Chianti Rufina consortia will instead offer masterclasses and experiences in their territory, while the Suvereto and Val di Cornia wine consortium will lead international operators on a tour to discover a very suggestive territory.
