A few years ago, the actor and author Richard Gadd had worked on a play which he then decided to adapt into a TV miniseries entitled Baby Reindeer, available on Netflix from April 11th with the first season consisting of 7 episodes. The series was directed by Weronika Tofilska and Josephine Bornebusch.

Baby Reindeer is among the new releases on Netflix for April 2024 and tells the story of Donny (Gadd), a bartender who dreams of becoming a comedian, and who is stalked by a girl named Martha (Jessica Gunning). The woman begins to harass Donny by sending him hundreds of messages and emails, convinced that she is his girlfriend. When Martha’s harassment invades the sexual sphere, memories of a plot in the past will resurface in Donny.
But how does the season end? Here she is Baby Reindeer ending explained. At the beginning of the series, Martha enters the place where Donny works in tears and he offers her a free cup of tea to calm her down. That gesture by Donny, previously a victim of sexual violence, will trigger years of persecution against him by the woman, which will profoundly affect the man’s life. In the final scene of the series, Donny is at a club and orders a Vodka Coke, apparently in memory of Martha who used to order a Diet Coke. Donny realizes that he left his wallet at home and the bartender, moved with compassion, tells him not to worry and that he would have offered. Donny observes the barista and seems excited by his gesture, showing an expression very similar to that of Martha towards him after offering the cup of tea. At that point, it seems that Donny has taken over Martha’s former role towards her. Will he also become a stalker or is that look just an awareness of the similar situation Martha found herself in with him?
