BigMama: «I’ve loved Ludovica for two years. Before I hid my sexuality”

It’s time for revenge BigMama, born Marianna Mammone. «I want to take back the center of attention that was stolen from me when I was little», the 24-year-old singer from Campania told “Domenica In”, who brought the autobiographical song “La rage non ti basta”, written by her girlfriend, to Sanremo2024 Maria Ludovica Lazzerini. «I love my partner, Ludovica», admitted BigMama in the interview with Mara Venier-Before I hid my sexuality and she helped me, she made me understand that I can love who I want and be loved. We met at a party drunk and there was the first kiss. We’ve been together for two years now. Before meeting Ludovica, I thought I didn’t deserve to be loved.”

A year ago the singer introduced herself on stage at the May Day concert in Rome with a tight flesh-colored dress, sending a strong message of body positivity. «They shouted at me “fat, you suck”, now look how hot I am!». And this year she will be hosting the event. «I’m going back to where it all began. It was one of the first stages from which I launched a strong message against bullying”, admitted BigMama who gave a speech last February to the UN on bullying, in front of hundreds of students, talking about the oppression she suffered as a young girl and how she never gave up, because she is a fighter by nature. It was the same with her cancer: in 2020 she was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, but she fought and, in the end, won.

«I have had many cycles of chemotherapy – explained the artist -. The first thing you think about when you’re sick is what others will say about your hair, about your body transformation. Then when you experience the disease, you understand that the problem is neither your hair nor your weight, but staying firmly with your feet on the ground. I didn’t think about death at all, I was thinking about the future, about interviews, about my featurings. I had to heal, because I had to go back to making music. Cancer was a parenthesis that opened and that I managed to close, but I’m not a heroine, I’m just a number. The disease changed mebecause if before I thought first of the good of others and then of my own, now I have started to put Marianna at the center and the others around her.”

For BigMama, however, the most emotional moment of the interview was not the story of her illness, but rather the chef’s video message Antonino Cannavacciuolo, of which he is a big fan. «Hi BigMama, I know you follow me and this makes me very, very happy, because I listen to your songs too. You are a force of nature, you are great and I send you a big kiss”, said the chef in the clip which the singer immediately reshared on her social networks. «Sooner or later I will meet him, my girlfriend and I are crazy about him. He is one of the few men for whom I would make an exception in life”, joked BigMama, moved by the surprise.
