It arrived from Cameroon in Italy as a child, she obtained the citizenship after twenty long years and this evening the European title will be played Ebu Silver in the ring of PalaDozza Bologna in front of thousands of fans and fellow fighters. Pamela Malvina Noutcho Sawa, 31 years old, works as a nurse in a hospital and is a professional boxer. Last year she won the Italian title and is currently in sixth place in the ranking drawn up by European Boxing Unionthirteenth worldwide. Undefeated among the professionals, this evening she will challenge the British Jordan Barker Porter in one of the temples of Italian boxing, the “Madison” in Piazza Azzarita. A ring that in the past hosted legends such as Dante Canè And Nino Welcome. But never any woman until now. And so this evening Pamela Malvina will try the assault on the sky, or rather, on the belt European.
“I will bring the difficulty that I have fought in recent years together with the comrades of the occupied houses of via Corticella and of Bolognina Boxing” says the boxer who began her journey thanks to Bolognina Popular Gym Boxing. A project born in 2017 to offer people living in the outskirts of the city a chance to approach the world of boxing in manner inclusive, without gender stereotypes and without racism. Today the gym hosts athletes of all ages from 22 different nations. “Into the ring I will also bring the periods of crisis that we had with the Covidjust think that we had to change the location of the gym three times” remembers Malvina, who is followed by the teacher Alessandro Danè and the sports director Frank Palmieri.
This evening, among the thousands of fans at ringside, there will also be his teammates popular gym and the many people who live in occupied houses and fight for the right to housing in Bologna.
