Fiat Grande Panda, bad news arrives for customers: this makes it complicated

Reading time: 3 minutes

The Fiat Grande Panda is among the most anticipated cars in the Turin company’s range. There is an update in the price list for 2026 that purists will not like.

FIAT has placed a lot of emphasis on the new Grande Panda, unveiling it in July 2024 for the 125th anniversary of its history. The car did not leave its mark on an aesthetic level, trying to distance itself from its cousin Citroën C3 with some stylistic features that vaguely recall the beloved first series of 1980, without that extra something on a technical level. Indeed, the absence of a thermal engine in the first phase left enthusiasts speechless, who continued to prefer the traditional Pandina.

Last year, orders opened at the beginning of the year for both the draft and hybrid versions with poor sales results. With a length of approximately four meters (3.99) m, the Big Panda is larger than the A-segment small car with a boxy and massive design. The Great Panda Pop It boasts a 100 HP mild hybrid engine, consisting of a 1.2 three-cylinder engine flanked by a small 21 kW (28.5 HP) electric motor integrated in the gearbox and powered by a small 0.9 kWh 48 Volt lithium-ion battery.

The 1.2 engine runs on the Miller cycle to limit the effort of the piston during the ascent phase. The electric motor boasts 29 HP and is inserted into the dual-clutch robotic gearbox. The cockpit features two displays for digital instrumentation (10″) and infotainment (10.25″), giving that touch of technology that the Pandina lacks.

The entry level with Pop trim started from 18,900 euros, in the intermediate version with Icon trim from 20,400 euros and finally in the top of the range La Prima version the prices set were from 23,400 euros. The Turin company has decided to increase the prices of its car by 1,000 euros for each trim level. Translated into a nutshell, the Pop version now starts from 19,900 euros, the Icon version from 21,400 euros and finally the top of the range The First costs 24,400 euros.

The objective of the Turin company is to create a price gap between the petrol version and the hybrid one. The thermal, in Pop trim, starts from 16,900 euros net of various incentives and promotions. Therefore it is the most attractive for those who do not like electrified cars. An extreme attempt to convince purists to choose the petrol engine.

The Pandina is offered at a starting price of 15,950 euros, excluding promotions, in the basic version of the range, and then progressively rises up to the 19,050 euros required for the Cross setup. The Grande Panda has an entry price that is around 1,000 euros higher than that of the Pandina Cross.
