To tell a story it is not always necessary to launch into long proclamations: a couple of shots, the right ones, may be enough. In the midst of a landscape where the white snow dominates the rest, Fabio Quartararo he wears his helmet with a look somewhere between amazed and unaware of what winter is. In front of him, a supersport, the Yamaha R9-25a motorcycle with a strong personality, black, sharp and equipped with studded tireslike speedway on ice. And among the comments, the curiosity of users prevails, fascinated by the two wheels, entrusted in the field test to a world champion.
TwoJeys changes the code: from motorcycle to jewel
Yamaha Motor Europe has contacted TwoJeys to define its image. Although it was only born in 2019, in Barcelona, the daughter of social media, you may have already heard of Joan Margarit and Biel Juste’s company, names of a certain importance in a macrocosm made up of skates, tattoos, travel and musical tracks. Dressed as if it were a jewel, the fruit of the collaboration arises from a transfer of habitat, from asphalt to snowy areas, with a veiled claim: “If a motorcycle born for the curbs survives here, then it’s not just a motorcycle”.
It feels like we’re going back to 2019, the year of the partnership between Marc Márquez and Red Bull, but here the show has a little more restraint, almost as well-curated as a fashion campaign. This is dictated by the logic of TikTok and the windows of Carrer de la Canuda 24, the TwoJeys store where visitors had the opportunity to admire it from 13 to 26 December.
The R9-25 is a customized version of the R9 aimed at purists. The basis remains that of the new generation supersport, three cylinders CP3 gives 890 ccthe Deltabox frame weighing less than ten kilos, the total mass reaching 195 kg. Instead of putting their heart into it, the team of technicians worked hard, in the same way as a person determined to change only the way he enters a room.
The official project page shows an example black at the rootwith flames ofargento on the sides, and the real precious material used for the brake and clutch controls. The polished logos, the exhaust redesigned as a bracelet, the rims and the casing that seem to have come from a jeweler’s counter translate the slogan repeated by TwoJeys until exhaustion: “Two legacies. One vision”. Two legacies. Just one vision. Yamaha puts the history of racing on the table, TwoJeys enhances the character by dusting off the house specialty: the care of the “suit” from top to bottom.
The previous Ducati
Furthermore, Quartararo’s spectacular performance is not an absolute first. In 1982, in view of the Ice Trophy, a winter championship, Ducati threw her into the fray Smartequipped with studded tires and raised fenders. Yet, the case of the R9-25 is a story in itself: built to be seen, it was conceived to live in the phone’s display, to make you stop scrolling. Yamaha knows this, and if you stop switching from one screen to another even for just a second then the mission can be considered accomplished.
