The Austrian company Supernovaa giant in the European real estate sector with a specialization in the property sector retail real estateconfirms its growth strategy in Italy through a new and significant financial operation. After having finalized the acquisition of the shopping centers during the summer season Casetta Mattei in Rome (characterized by a Gross Rentable Area of 15,348 m2) and The Scaglia in Civitavecchia (with a GLA of 15,800 square metres), the French major has formalized the purchase of the Galleria Borromea shopping centre, an asset strategically located within the metropolitan area of Milan.
The strategic importance of the Milanese acquisition
Located about 30 minutes away from the heart of Milan, the complex of Borromean Gallery represents one of the most significant assets in the area. Officially inaugurated on 24 November 2011, the center boasts a gross leasable area (GLA) total of 18,438 m2. Inside there is space for over 90 commercial units, capable of generating a constant flow of around 4 million visitors on an annual basis. The structure also offers its users more than 1,500 parking spaces, of which approximately two thirds are located in covered areas.
From the point of view of ownership history, before entering Supernova’s portfolio, the complex had belonged to the English company Europa Capital since 2014 and had previously been managed by Sonae Sierra.
Commercial offer and brands present in the structure
The shopping center develops vertically on two levels, distributed between the first and second floors. The retail offer is characterized by the presence of tenant of international and national importance, which guarantee high attractiveness for the local catchment area. Among the main insignia are:
A central role is occupied by the catering sector, which appears particularly solid and structured. The area dedicated to food includes 13 specific brands, among which consolidated brands such as Alice Pizza, Burger King, The Piadineria, Old Wild West e Poke House.
The supernova vision and the group’s numbers
The Milanese operation is part of a framework of organic growth on the Italian territory, as highlighted by the words of Mark PinggeraCEO of Supernova Group. Regarding the acquisition, Pinggera stated: “After the successes recorded in Rome and Civitavecchia, the acquisition of Galleria Borromea, in the Milan area, represents the next natural step to strategically expand our presence in Italy.”
The CEO also underlined the importance of the asset for the consolidation of the group: “With this operation we secure a consolidated and high-traffic headquarters in one of the most dynamic areas of Europe and we evidently strengthen the assets of our retail assets”. Currently, the company’s assets consist of 118 properties for a total value that reaches i 2.4 billion euros.
