Saipem has been awarded a new offshore contract by Turkish Petroleum OTC for further activities as part of the extension of the third phase of the Sakarya gas field development project in the Turkish sector of the Black Sea. The value of the contract is approximately $425 million. The activities assigned to Saipem include the engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) of 3 additional pipelines, for a total of approximately 153 km, with related subsea structures, which will connect the new natural gas reserve recently discovered in the Goktepe field to the Sakarya phase 3 plants. The Goktepe field is located at a depth of 2,200 meters and at a distance of approximately 80 km from the Sakarya phase 3 field. The new infrastructure will allow an increase in production resulting from the development of the field. The contract, lasting approximately 2 and a half years, will be managed in continuity with the one signed in September 2025 for the third phase of the development of the Sakarya field. The offshore campaign will be conducted by Saipem’s Castorone pipelaying vessel in the second half of 2027.
The two contracts in Saudi Arabia for 600 million dollars
The news of the new contract arrived a few hours after that of the two offshore contracts that Saipem was awarded in Saudi Arabia, as part of the long-term agreement in place with Aramco. The first contract, lasting 32 months, includes the engineering, procurement, construction and installation of approximately 34 kilometers of pipelines and related work on topside structures at the Berri and Abu Safah oil fields. The second contract, lasting 12 months, includes subsea interventions at the Marjan field and the engineering, procurement and construction of onshore pipelines and related connections. For offshore operations, Saipem will use its construction vessels currently deployed in the region. Fabrication activities related to the projects will be carried out at Saipem’s Saudi fabrication yard, Saipem Taqa Al-Rushaid Fabricators Co. Ltd., in Dammam, with the aim of increasing and developing the capabilities of the local industry. The awarding of these new contracts strengthens Saipem’s “presence in Saudi Arabia and further consolidates its long-standing relationship with Aramco”, we read in a note.
