The consumer association summarizes the story, after the French company (part of the Stellantis Group) sent a communication to the owners of the affected cars, ordering them to immediately stop driving. The case broke out in the last few hours: there are over 605 thousand Citroën C3s and DS3s, produced between 2009 and 2019 and distributed in twenty countries, including Italy, which present a problem linked to chemicals contained in airbag inflators, which may deteriorate over time.

«The situation is causing enormous inconvenience to the owners of the cars involved – explains the president of Adiconsum Venezia, Jacqueline Temporin Gruer – because they are forced to leave them at home or incur unjustified expenses to use alternative means of transport. Furthermore, many motorists drive around in unsafe conditions while waiting for airbag repairs.” Repair times are very long for shortage of necessary spare parts: we are talking about months. And for those who have only one car at home, the problem becomes even more serious.

Citroën’s handling of the recall has raised concerns. «We are now working to protect consumer rights – adds Temporin Gruer – and putting pressure on Citroën to resolve the problem very quickly. The hope is that the automaker will take quick and appropriate measures to ensure the safety of its customers and resolve the logistical problems that are causing significant delays in repairs. And in light of this, we await developments.” In the meantime, you can send a warning. «This aims to obtain compensation for the material and moral damages suffered by the owners of the C3 and DS3 cars involved in the recall – says Temporin Gruer – and the replacement of the cars if spare parts are not available. We ask for a sanction against the car manufacturer for the management of the recall campaign.”
