Bad news for electric car advocates. What emerged suggests a very different future from the one hoped for
For some time there has been discussion about how to try to renew mobility at an international level with internal combustion engine cars which are now considered a thing of the past by many. Toyota goes against the grain: boom for the Japanese giant
Among the automotive companies that have approached electric, there is obviously Toyota, the first brand in the world at a global production level. In reality the Japanese company is one of those that more than any other has opted for a mixed range with electric which, according to the President Akio Toyodawill never go beyond 33% of the global market.
The data actually seems to prove the Japanese company right with its flexibility and open vision to the future of the automotive market which seems to have been rewarded. Adding also the sales of Lexus (the brand’s luxury brand), the total number of cars sold in 2023 by the Toyota Group is well 10.3 milliona historical record that made the year extraordinarily positive.
These data are very worrying for supporters of electric cars. In the indicated number, in fact, only a very small part is occupied by EV vehicles. A precise choice by the Toyota brand which confirms how excessive expense, autonomy and charging difficulties mean that fewer and fewer people in the world decide to approach these models. Meanwhile, Toyota can only celebrate the great result achieved. Electric, evidently, can still wait.
