Renault Symbioz: a Captur for “extra loads”

IT COVERS A “HOLE” – Here it comes Renault Symbioz: after the Arkana, the Austral, the Captur, the Espace and the very recent Rafale, the French company is further enriching its range of crossovers. MORE TRUNK AND ONLY HYBRID – Compared to the Captur, the Renault Symbioz grows in trunk: 492 liters with the sofa moved back, 624 using the 16 cm of travel of the rear seats; that’s around 140 liters more than the hybrid Captur. And here we come to another important point: the Symbioz (unlike its shorter “sister”) is full hybrid only. The system is the classic one, already used in the Captur, which delivers overall 145 HP: a 1.6 4-cylinder petrol engine is combined with two electric motors and an automatic transmission. How does it work? Starting when the car is stationary is always carried out via the main electric motor. Only after 1,600 petrol is it started by the second electric unit and brought to the exact speed to engage second gear without backlash. In the release phases, the main electric motor regenerates the energy which is stored in the 1.2 kWh capacity battery. All this, according to Renault, allows you to travel up to 80% weather in electric in the city and save up to 40% on consumption.

A MORE SPACIOUS CAPTUR – The area intended for passengers of the Renault Symbioz is common to that of the recently updated Captur: perhaps not the latest trend, but spacious, well-finished, with lots of storage and with an excellent multimedia system which includes a large vertical screen and Android Automotive with all the functions of Google Automotive Services.
