IT COVERS A “HOLE” – Here it comes Renault Symbioz: after the Arkana, the Austral, the Captur, the Espace and the very recent Rafale, the French company is further enriching its range of crossovers. In fact, Renault was missing a “small-medium” model, in fact it had been there for a while bridge the gap between the 423 cm of the Captur and the 451 of the Austral, and the 9,950 euros that separate the respective starting versions: 22,550 for the first, 33,500 for the second.
ALWAYS PROPORTIONATE – The Renault Symbioz It is long 441 cm and at first glance it could also be confused with the Captur, from which it derives: the two cars are practically the same identicalat least up to the rear doors (also the step is the same, 263.8 cm). They change the final portion of bodywork, the tailgate and the lights. Beyond the details, it must be said that theaddition of 18 cm beyond the rear axle it did not weigh down the proportions, thanks to the fact that the Captur has a very small rear overhang (the part of the bodywork beyond the rear wheels).
MORE TRUNK AND ONLY HYBRID – Compared to the Captur, the Renault Symbioz grows in trunk: 492 liters with the sofa moved back, 624 using the 16 cm of travel of the rear seats; that’s around 140 liters more than the hybrid Captur. And here we come to another important point: the Symbioz (unlike its shorter “sister”) is full hybrid only. The system is the classic one, already used in the Captur, which delivers overall 145 HP: a 1.6 4-cylinder petrol engine is combined with two electric motors and an automatic transmission. How does it work? Starting when the car is stationary is always carried out via the main electric motor. Only after 1,600 petrol is it started by the second electric unit and brought to the exact speed to engage second gear without backlash. In the release phases, the main electric motor regenerates the energy which is stored in the 1.2 kWh capacity battery. All this, according to Renault, allows you to travel up to 80% weather in electric in the city and save up to 40% on consumption.
A MORE SPACIOUS CAPTUR – The area intended for passengers of the Renault Symbioz is common to that of the recently updated Captur: perhaps not the latest trend, but spacious, well-finished, with lots of storage and with an excellent multimedia system which includes a large vertical screen and Android Automotive with all the functions of Google Automotive Services. FROM ABOUT 32,000 EUROS – There are still no official communications regarding the prices of the Renault Symbioz; the price list will be available in June, when orders will open, while deliveries will begin September of the 2024. However, we can hypothesize a starting point 32,000 euros.
