Syracuse, the “Tiche Prize” and “The May of Books” presented

Two cultural events organized by the association “La città che would like” and sponsored by the Municipality’s Department of Culture were presented. “The hope– said the president of the association Sergio Pillitteri at the opening – is that both initiatives can concretely represent a socio-cultural laboratory also useful for the next possible candidacy of Syracuse as Capital of Culture”.

The first event is the 12th edition of the “Tiche Award”, aimed at valorising the excellence and talents of Syracuse, especially youth. It will be held on Tuesday 7 May, at 6pm, at the Archia comprehensive institute in via Asbesta. Prizes also for three-year students of comprehensive and high schools called to create an essay on paper or video on the theme “Aretusa meets Bacchus”.

The second event is “May of books”, a national event aimed at encouraging reading, starting with school, scheduled for Friday 31 May at 11am at the Raiti comprehensive school in via Pordenone.

“It deals with – added Pillitteri – of two socio-educational projects that look at a city that participates and puts the citizen at the centre. The aim is to build a culture of respect for children and young people, so that they feel confident that their views will be listened to and taken seriously at all levels by adults who have the necessary skills and who take responsibility. the commitment to encourage grassroots participation. We wish, as we have already done in previous years, to continue a propulsive action to strengthen the social network made up of schools, parents, children, young students, cultural associations, capable of enhancing our talents and offering opportunities for high discussion, training, information on orientation issues useful to the city community”. The councilor for Culture Fabio Granata and Antonio Risuglia, meritorious member of the association “La città che would like”, gave their contribution to the press conference.
