The classic detective story is the protagonist in Costigliole for the last appointment of “Books at the Cinema”

The review at the municipal cinema theater of Costigliole d’Asti “Books at the Cinema – Chills in the Hall”, organized by the Municipality with the collaboration of the Costigliole Cultura association, in its third appointment last Friday, confirmed its appreciated formula. A pleasant evening full of points of interest and reflection, which once again recorded a good number of spectators. Guest of the evening was the writer from Costigliole Fabrizio Borgio, interviewed with the usual sensitivity and depth of analysis by Filippo Romagnolo, president of Costigliole Cultura. From his beginnings as a writer to the many novels already published, to his characters, up to the news and future projects: a chat with Borgio that ranged between the literary genres of crime fiction, noir, up to the spy story. Equally curious, punctual and passionate was the introduction to the evening’s film by Riccardo Santagati, journalist, writer and profound connoisseur of crime fiction: he offered many curiosities about Arthur Conan Doyle, “father” of deductive detective fiction, about his Sherlock Holmes, the most famous of the detectives, and on the film of the evening, the excellent “The Fury of the Baskervilles”, based on the novel “The Hound of the Baskervilles”.

The “Books at the Cinema” exhibition, which sees the patronage of La nuova provinciale and the contribution of the Cassa di Risparmio di Asti, will continue tomorrow, Friday 3 May, with its last scheduled appointment. It will be an evening dedicated to classic detective stories. On the big screen, presented by Santagati, one of the best film versions of Agatha Christie’s masterpiece “Ten little Indians”: this is the adaptation of George Pollock, from 1965, with a cast of well-groomed actors perfect for impersonating detectives, victims and possible murderers at the same time. Ten people are invited to a mountain chalet in the Alps and there they are forced to remain isolated from the rest of the world. From that moment they begin to die, murdered, to the rhythm of a disturbing children’s nursery rhyme. The murderer appears to be the man who invited them, but no one except the guests and the two servants is in the hotel with them. Who among them is the real culprit?

Guest writer of the evening will be Marta Martiner Testa from Costigliole, who will present “Giulia of via dei Tigli”, his first novel, a mystery set in the hills of Asti. Through Filippo Romagnolo’s interview we will talk about territory, nature, memory, the feelings and passions that, for better or for worse, shake the tranquility of the countryside. It will also be presented to the guests of “Libri al Cinema” on booktrailer of the novel, created by the author and Riccardo Santagati and which offers some suggestive images by the Costigliolese photographer Franco Bello, also author of the photograph that represents the cover of the book. The event begins at 8.45pm, with free entry, with the possibility of donating an offering to two people from Costigliole who work abroad for humanitarian purposes: Sister Ida Porrino, in Pakistan, and Father Giovanni Onore, in Ecuador. The evening ends with a reception with desserts from Costigliole pastry chefs and “yellow” wines from local producers.
