Travelers, adventurers, gentlewomen. Few remember them but in their writings, as well as in theirs lives, twentieth-century authors manage to bring out new horizons. Eight meetings for eight writers: Maria Bellonci, Sibilla Aleramo, Anna Banti, Gianna Manzini, Elsa Morante, Anna Maria Ortese, Natalia Ginzburg, Fabrizia Ramondino, Benedetta Craveri.
The reading group is made up of people who read a book chosen together in private. The reading is then shared: we talk about the book, we delve into its themes, we share the emotions we feel.
With dense, visceral prose, capable of opening up to even very distant realities, Althenopis, released for the first time in 1981, and immediately attracted the attention of critics, moves in a casual and transversal manner between tenderly reconstructed domestic environments and existential tensions yet to be explored. With a rich, incisive and nuanced language, the novel, in which the autobiographical story is transfigured into something higher, delves into family relationships with a refined prose that sometimes becomes lucid social criticism. A late but dazzling debut, with special attention to female figures, which revealed the extraordinary narrative talent of an author like Fabrizia Ramondino who, within a few years, would be recognized as one of the most interesting and esteemed writers of her time. generation.
