Matthew Blake is a debut author signing a psychological thriller in which the border between victim and executioner, between innocent and guilty is ephemeral and volatile. The starting point is a question that we have all asked ourselves, sooner or later: what happens when we sleep? Are we still “us” or a different version, capable of the things we often dream of?

Anna Ogilvy is a talented 25-year-old writerhas recently founded his own newspaper, comes from an important family and has a bright future ahead of him. The only flaw in his perfect life is sleepwalking, from which he has suffered for many years. One night, while sleeping, stabs his two best friends to death and, from that moment on, he never wakes up again. She was struck by the “resignation syndrome”, a very rare psychosomatic disorder which induces her into a state of perpetual sleep: in simple words, his body has put itself into a state of stasis so as not to face reality.

Four years have passed since that terrible night when Dr. Benedict Prince, a forensic psychologist expert in the field of sleep-related crimes and always passionate about Anna’s case, he is instructed to try to awaken the girl. He is the last hope of solving the case, waking up the killer so that she can finally be put on trial. But the situation Benedict finds himself in is complicated: other people are involved in the affair and don’t want Anna to wake up.

While working with Anna trying to wake her up, Benedict will also have to figure out what really happened and whether it’s right to hold her accountable for her crimes. However, he does not know of the danger that looms over him and his patient, nor does he imagine the extent of the secrets that lie behind the Anna O case. A fascinating, disturbing and all-encompassing novel, which – obviously – will make you sleepless!
