Puccini. The Centenary Book. “In love with everything” by Niclo Vitelli

The national preview presentation in Lucca, Sunday 28 April at 12.30 at the Real Collegio as part of the Lucca Città di Carta festival.

The book by Niclo Vitelli (after “One day we’ll see” on the current affairs and modernity of Giacomo Puccini and at the Torre del Lago Festival, published in 2016) returns to one of his passions with this book that tells the story of Puccini the man, that of private passions and love for life and for nature of his native land, absolutely faithful and generous with his few precious friends, sensitive to feminine charm, curious about the world and innovations.

The book written by Vitelli is illustrated by Emma Dal Falco (lively collages that restore the playful side of Puccini’s temperament accompanying the story), and contains the contribution of Leonardo Castellucci And Daniela Mugnai. The book will be premiered at the festival Lucca di Carta on 28 April, then at Livorno Libriexpo on 5 May, at the Turin Book Fair on Saturday 11 May, in Viareggio on 25 May, and in Florence, in Palazzo del Pegaso, on 26 June.

From the pages of the book the tormented and demanding personality of the Maestro emerges – whose death marks the centenary this year – and not only with himself, that of a musician who seeks the solution to his restlessness in his art. He talks about his very special relationship with some singers and his almost obsessive care in valorizing their talent. He informs us about his family of origin, with which he appears to be linked by an indissoluble bond, and about his intimate bond with Lucca, his hometown, and with Torre del Lago and Versilia. In short,
a human portrait full of anecdotes and often curious and unknown episodes of his life written by an author of
solid and full-blown Puccini faith. The work is enriched by some contributions from specialists who highlight
how much the effect of the Puccini myth still survives in full health, even beyond its immortal legacy of
musician.
