Almost 50 events, 37 authors involved, 13 different frames. BA Book returns to Busto Arsizio from 12 to 19 May: it is the event organized bythe municipal administration and the Friends of the Chapter Library association with the Literature Table, made up of bookshops, associations, publishing houses and A&A law firm and Galleria Boragno. Table that the deputy mayor Manuela Maffioli thanked, together with the sponsors, the deputy director of the library Monica Giuffrida and the president of the Friends of the Chapter Library Carla Trotti, as well as every person and organization that made this event possible.
In detail, there are 46 events, in addition to BA Book Oltre. Among the best-known authors, Aldo Cazzullo, Carlo Cottarelli, Serena Bortone (at the center of attention in this period for Antonio Scurati’s monologue). Marina Di Guardo, Chiara Ferragni’s mother, will also be there.
«In the wake of the model of cultural initiatives, Ba Book becomes a widespread festival – Maffioli pointed out – like BA Classica or the European photography festival. The library has already brought reading throughout Busto, with parks, oratories, prison… As a festival the spaces are increased, it is the model we are working on in the different cultural languages”. Speaking of common models, after the success of Suonami (pianos in the streets, READ HERE) it will be “Read with me”: Friday 10th and Saturday 11th May, in the two days preceding the start of the festival, there will be reading points visible on a map. «You will be able to read books made available – notes Maffioli – or you will be able to bring your favorite books and read part of them». Listen to fragments of stories, find stories of the greats or discover books you have never read, to go to the bookshop or library and complete that journey. Saturday 11 May an initiative starting from Rebesco and Bar Trento, sponsored by the city center traders committee led by Sarah Leoni: it will concern drawing and it will be dedicated to children, as Simona Di Bello said. “Draw with me” includes Green drawing and digital drawing stations, as well as juggling and concert entertainment from the Accademia Concertare in Piazza Trento Trieste which, for the occasion, will be partially pedestrianised. It will be a day of sharing and joy, with many creative activities for children and teenagers.
Monica Giuffrida then the program detailed. At 10.30 on Sunday 12 May the festival will open with Enzo Guaitamacchi, “lei She lei’s a Woman. Stories of courage, pride, love and (dis)honor of 33 queens of music”. At the end, the performance of “The Voices-Centro musica Concertare”, organized by the Associazione Dalle Libraie, at Molini Marzoli. We will continue with other authors, including national ones such as Carlo Cottarelli, Aldo Cazzullo or Daniele Bossari. But there will be no shortage of special moments like the one that delves into a bustocco without borders and timeless, like Richino Castiglioni (Friday 17 May at 8.30 pm) curated by Paolo Bossi and Barbara Galli, who present Monaco in the room by Nomos Edizioni.
Still, laboratories such as bookmarks, book folders (how beautiful is the angel of lavender, presented and also linked to the environmental theme, with an invitation to «leave our lawns unkempt, bees are our salvation» said Francesca Testa) or “Let’s do the potions”.
Monday 20 May BA “Book beyond… the detective story”. A noir coda, so at 8.30pm there will be a crime hunt, “Paper Houses”, curated by Gli Svoltati in the library. All free events, but with reservations required.
