MIRANDOLA – At the Dante Alighieri primary school in Mirandola, an inexplicable event has caused much concern among families and teachers: hundreds of books have disappeared from the school library.

The report is this:

Among the missing texts are works of children’s fiction, educational material and much more. The issue was brought to the attention of the school director who announced that he intended to address the matter in the next collegial meeting.

Following the complaint, an important solidarity movement took place: some texts were donated by parents but also by the students themselves who brought books from their personal library to school to share and exchange with their classmates.

The families and teachers are now waiting for further updates on the matter with the keen hope of being able to recover all the missing books.

Soon comes the explanation from Raffaella Pellacani, head teacher of the complex:

Following repeated moves, a more dated portion of books was lost, some of which had already been selected by the teachers before the move.

The restoration of the school library has begun with funding from the School. For years, through various initiatives, especially “I read because…”, parents have contributed to the provision of class libraries. So the latest books are currently in classrooms.

The parents of the second grades donated additional volumes to their classes for Christmas.
