THE BOOK
From being marginal to the awareness of being marginalized, up to the challenge of becoming central in social change.
In the pages of this book we talk about suburbs, as an object and subject, as a social environment, as a construction, as a space of expulsion and identity, as well as the processes of peripheralization in cities and around the globe.
We also talk about the center understood as a geographical city centre, but also as a center and space for the accumulation of power, in which inequalities and social injustice are maintained through a branched and unequal system.
In particular, the author focuses on the sexist organization of cities, on urban and institutional racism, analyzes gender stereotypes, bringing to the foreground subjects who are often silenced and issues that hardly come to mind when talking about the suburbs, such as the climate crisis and the expulsion of non-human animals.
