Salvini presents his book on April 25th. That typo on the poster (Czechs without “i”) which recalls another gaffe from the League

The procession to celebrate Liberation Day will parade through the streets of Milan on April 25th. On the same day, in the prestigious late 19th century palace of the architect Pirovano, home of the Institute for the Blind, Matteo Salvini will make the first presentation of his latest book, Against the wind. They will find themselves one step away from each other, in the historic center of Milan, Northern League members and partisans, supporters of the secretary and demonstrators who will march behind the banner: “Long live the anti-fascist Republic, ceasefire everywhere”. The official poster announcing the launch event of the vice prime minister’s manuscript was released today, 19 April. The typo on the name of the company did not go unnoticed location. «At – we read – Fondazione Istituto dei Czechs». An “i” is missing, i.e. the difference between blind people and the population of the Czech Republic. A blunder by the staff that adds to the controversy against Salvini, criticized by some for the choice to present his book – and perhaps announce his candidacy of General Vannacci – on the day in which, 79 years ago, Sandro Pertini pronounced these words to Free Radio Milan: «Place the Germans with the dilemma: surrender or perish».

The war did not end on 25 April 1945, but this was chosen as the symbolic day of Liberation because the general insurrection was proclaimed in Milan in the territories still occupied by the Nazi-fascists. Returning to these days, the faux pas on the poster of Salvini’s book he recalls another blunder of the Northern League’s propaganda machine. It was 2018 and, like this time, the “Czechs” were involved. For the League, it was the year of the consecration as the first force of the Italian centre-right, in the polls of the March 4 elections. The slogan “Italians first” was on the election posters. It’s a shame that the protagonists of the photographs used to announce the rally in Piazza Duomo were anything but Italian. Very blonde hair, ice blue eyes. Journalist Matteo Lenardon discovered that they were photos of models from the Czech Republic and Slovakia. A visual antinomy between the writing “Italians first” and the photographs of Czechs and Slovaks on which it was superimposed. «Salvini wanted to divide Italy with secession, but he managed to reunite Czechoslovakia», commented the journalist. 6 years later, the “Czechs” once again become the worry of the communications team following Salvini.
