Enrico Cavalli’s book on the “A Pie’ Piazza” building available in digital version

The digital version of the volume “Historical-Urbanistic Contextualization of the Fabbricato A Piedi (Pie’) Piazza” of L’Aquila by Enrico Cavalli, historian, writer and teacher, is available in the best online bookstores.

This work of Enrico Cavalli presents itself as a contribution to the urban reconstruction of L’Aquila and which cannot ignore the fruitful and admirable synthesis of architectural and human facts. The writer intended to highlight the site evolutions of the historic center of L’Aquila, given that this is the first private rebuilding following the earthquake 6 April 2009in Piazza Maggiore and the Duomo, a crucial place of the municipality over the centuries.

Through original research in the archival field (with the support of Studio Intech and Dipe Costruzioni), it emerges that the building “at the foot of the square” existed before the foundation of the “new city” in 1254, then developed into an ancient tannery and spice shop until it was transformed into a commercial and also residential hostel for social events that were significant in the city’s history.
