Presented in Catona, in the Closed space of Leonida Edizioni, the book “Before the dust is deposited” by Carmelo Santonocito, professor and scholar who dedicated life to historical, literary and linguistic research.
The meeting is part of the calendar of events that anticipate the new edition of the Xenia Book Fair National Literary Review. To introduce the work were the publisher Domenico Politi and the historian Daniele Castrizio, who defined the volume “a book of emotions, a genuine, authentic product, which communicates how friendship can make the bonds eternal, even in a time when humanity seems to be lost”.
The mayor Giuseppe Falcomatà , who shared a touching personal memory of the bond between the author and his father, Italo Falcomatà , was also present at the event.
“I wanted to be there – he said – because Carmelo binds me a personal relationship, made of bittersweet memories that intertwine with my childhood, adolescence and above all with the period of my father’s illness. Carmelo, every morning for four months, brought newspapers to the hospital: a simple but full of affection gesture, which contributed not to make us feel alone”.
The mayor also reiterated the support of the Municipality and the Metropolitan City of Reggio Calabria to the review and the Leonida publishing house for the cultural value of the initiatives they carry out, and for the constant closeness shown to the local Armenian community.
Finally, Santonocito expressed gratitude for the words of the first citizen: “He has evoked a deep friendship, which I feel alive all year round”. Regarding his book he added: «The book is immortality. Romanzed tales, except one, who want to save the spley memory and the little characters from oblivion which, although not known, have contributed to the great history “.
