He would like to constantly fight for podiums and victories, but he does not have an KTM RC16 capable of satisfying his requests. He asked for help from Mattighofen’s house, but at this moment there are no certainties about the future.
MotoGP, Acosta and Ktm wanted more in 2025
The two -time world champion, interviewed by Pieldeasfalo, reiterated that he was not satisfied with how his second season is going in the queen class of the world championship: “The first year in MotoGP, even if it went badly, was a year of experience. But both I and the parent company had a different goal this year. It is not just about winning or not, but of fighting. If you lose but you fought until the end, it doesn’t hurt. The problem is when you don’t even have the opportunity to fight“.
Acosta was well aware of the strength of Ducati and probably expected that he would not fight the world title, but he imagined still that he was at a different level in 2025: I understand I still be very young – adds – but obviously it was a harsh reality when I and the mother house arrived with a goal, with an idea, and it was totally or it was totally the opposite“.
Pedro does not change in 2026
In recent weeks there have been market rumors relating to a possible passage in the Enduro VR46 Racing pertamine, so as to climb a Ducati, but the Spanish driver seems oriented to respect the expiring agreement at the end of 2026: “Nothing has changed. I have a contract with KTM. I want to do well in the races and go as far as possible. I have to have a better bike and start doing well this year, then we’ll see. Acosta aims to have a better KTM RC16 and to be able to conquer results more in line with its expectations, it does not think of a change of motorcycles in the short term or what will happen in 2027: “I don’t think we should think beyond 2026. I have to think about the fact that I need a better bike now and do well now. I can’t afford to have a negative year and then suddenly see everything going in the right direction in 2027 with the new regulations. I want to do well now, not in two years“. Pedro focused on the present, we will see if KTM will meet his needs and those of the other drivers who guide the RC16.
The results of Acosta in 2025
The two -time world champion occupies eighth place in the general MotoGP classification. It has 98 points, 3 less than Johann Zarco of the Honda LCR team. In 2025 he never managed to get on the podium, his best results were the quarter -places in the races in Le Mans, Aragon and Assen.
Winning a race will be difficult, considering the strength of the Ducati drivers, but certainly its goal is to return to the podium in some Grand Prix. He has a talent that is not discussed, he needs a motorcycle to his height. Acosta is one of those drivers capable of entertaining and exciting.
