UBOLDO – Fblack umat for the painting found in the parish church of Uboldo: the hypothesis that it was a precious work by Jusepe de Ribera known as “lo Spagnoletto” was rejected by the expert. After the doubt had arisen, last weekend there was an inspection of the site by Letizia Lodo, a manager of the Brerado art gallery where there is the original of the seventeenth-century “Christ mocked and crowned with thorns”. It emerged that the one present in the sacred Uboldo temple would only be a replica, albeit of fair quality.
The last word has not yet been said, further investigations are underway but apparently the painting present in Uboldo is by a Lombard author, who copied a painting by Spagnoletto, but not the “Mocking Christ” but a previous work of his.
The painting present in the Uboldo church was found in a warehouse and was once inside the church of San Cosma.
