Photography finally has its home in Savignano sul Rubicone. With the cutting of the ribbon of the municipal photo library “Marco Pesaresi”, in Corso Vendemini 57, the Savignano city of photography headquarters was officially inaugurated, the place where the photographic collections deriving from the activity carried out in Savignano around are kept, consulted and valorised. to photography since the 1980s. There are over 200,000 documents divided into a “historical”, “postcards” and “contemporary” section.

Among these is the collection dedicated to traditional dance music, a unique example of the genre which is linked to the archive of the Edizioni Musicali Casadei Sonora of Riccarda Casadei, daughter of Maestro Secondo Casadei, and the archive of the photojournalist Marco Pesaresi, who passed away in 2001. fund, donated to the City of Savignano sul Rubicone by will of the mother, Isa Perazzini and sisters, Laura and Simona, in 2021, is made up of 140,000 documents, including negatives, contact sheets, prints and color photos.

To date, the cataloging of the entire photographic heritage of the Pesaresi collection has been completed, thanks also to a regional contribution, and the Underground, Rimini and Transiberiana works have been digitised.

In addition to the space in which the photography collections will be preserved, which can be consulted in Opac Sbn – Romagna and San Marino Library Network, the photo library also houses a collection of photography books which, with its 4768 volumes, is one of the most important, rich and complete of the Emilia Romagna Region, already a point of reference for researchers and including precious, rare and difficult to consult works. The photo library also offers an exhibition space of approximately 30 meters and two study rooms with 16 workstations to host research and consultation, production and study activities around photography and its authors. The heart of the SI FEST, the photography festival, will also beat here in its 33rd edition in 2024.

The new municipal photo library service will be open to the public from Monday 22 April, with the following opening hours: Monday to Friday 9am-6.30pm, Saturday 9am-1pm.

The project, by the Municipality of Savignano sul Rubicone, was carried out thanks to the assignment of the contribution from the “Culture Fund” tender of the Ministry of Culture. The total investment for the construction of the house of photography is 125,000 euros, financed by 100,000 euros from the ministerial contribution, and 25,000 euros as a share paid by the Municipality of Savignano sul Rubicone.

Present at today’s historic inauguration, Friday 19 April, were the Mayor of Savignano sul Rubicone Filippo Giovannini and the Deputy Mayor Nicola Dellapasqua, Isa Perazzini and Mario Beltrambini, respectively President and Vice President of Savignano Immagine, the photographer Silvia Camporesi, Maria Grazia Baraghini, responsible of the Culture sector of the Municipality of Savignano sul Rubicone with the staff, Massimiliano Ottaviani and Andrea Balestri.

The ribbon cutting was accompanied by the inauguration of two exhibitions of high symbolic as well as photographic value, namely Cartes de visite. Images from the municipal photo library and Silvia Camporesi’s living archive.

Carte de visite, edited by Jessica Andreucci and Giuseppe Pazzaglia, is set up in the photo library. These are portraits of citizens of Savignano collected in different eras and contexts, carte de visite, albumins, portraits in photographic studios, prints, analogue and digital photographs all preserved by the photo library, to unite and compare different generations of Savignano citizens. Live archive of Silvia Camporesi curated by Mario Beltrambini and Jana Liskova, set up in the church of Suffragio, in Corso Vendemini, where it will remain visible until 29 September, brings out from the artist’s archive two works created ten years apart one from the other, set up inside the church, Indizi terrestri e Ofelia (2003) and Atlas Italiae (2013), to which is added the work created in 2023 during the flood that hit Romagna, Sommersi salvati, arranged in the outdoor spaces.

The inaugural day ended at the Cinema Teatro Moderno with the preview screening of the docufilm The naked crab by Riccardo Caccia, Michela Fragomeni, Marta E. Antonioli and Elena Padovan, the story of Marco Pesaresi told through the testimonies of people who in various capacities have been part of the photographer’s life or who have shared his professional path. The screening took place in collaboration with Dogville.

The Cartes de visite exhibition, curated by Giuseppe Pazzaglia and Jessica Andreucci, will be visible from Saturday 20 April during the opening hours of the municipal photo library “Marco Pesaresi”.

The exhibition Archivio vivo, photographs by Silvia Camporesi, curated by Mario Beltrambini and Jana Liskova, will be visible in the Chiesa del Suffragio, in Corso Vendemini, from 19 April to 29 September, on Saturdays from 3pm to 7pm and on Sundays from 10am to 1pm and from 3pm to 7pm (closed on weekends in August and 1st September, the exhibition will be visible during the SI FEST during the festival hours).
