Giulia Frump’s rapprochement with nature

From Giulia Frump we’ve already talked about it here but we couldn’t not talk about MAPSthe photographer’s project dating back to 2019 on display today from MIA Photo Fairuntil the April 14. The intention of this visual story is to reconstruct this apparently invisible link with the natural world through photographs, comparing elements that are as different as they are similar. This reflection arises from the world in which we live, made up of increasingly frequent and facilitated connections where physical contact is less and less frequent every day. A consideration made by many, above all post COVID-19but which continues to fascinate us.

Giulia Frump’s project is also about acceptance of the changing body, about aging and about having to stop. THE subjects are all female: women who «have chosen to fearlessly show what can socially be seen as defects (skin blemishes, wrinkles, white hair, scars, veins and more), offering a genuine image of the numerous changes that occur during life, embracing them and letting photography help them complete a process of acceptance” as the photographer tells us.

In short, this new reality brings us closer to very distant worlds but simultaneously sets aside our belonging to the natural world, now relegated to a few moments of our daily lives. However, this distortion gave rise to MAPS who was already thinking about these issues in 2019.
