The HATCH Gallery in Paris opens in Milan

There is a new opening in Milan on the occasion of Art Week. It’s about HATCH Gallerya project without headquarters born in Paris in 2022 from the enthusiasm of Margot de Rochebouet And Giovanna Traversa, who brought together their respective experiences in marketing and art consultancy to found a nomadic platform dedicated to international emerging artists working in different media. Now, the gallery presents itself for the first time in Italy with a flash exhibition lasting a few days in the premises of via Maroncelli 12, in the heart of the Milanese district full of art, design and fashion spaces: it is called Myth Makers and will celebrate its finissage on Wednesday 10 April (4pm – 10pm) in conjunction with the events in the gallery for the Milan Art Week.

The nomadic format of HATCH Gallery

This is a temporary exhibition, to introduce ourselves to the Italian market and evaluate future prospects”, explains ad Artribune the co-owner of the gallery Giovanna Traversa. “We chose this period to better present our artists. This exhibition marks HATCH gallery’s first physical exhibition in Italy and follows its commitment to exploring distinct and meaningful exhibition formats for current emerging industry paradigms”. A style in line with the format of the gallery which has in its name (Hatch, synonymous with incubator) the vision that guides it: to connect amateurs and enthusiasts, experts and professionals of the market around nomadic events of emerging artists, to encourage exchanges, meetings and collaborations with other cultural organizations in Europe and abroad.

Now, this format arrives in Italy with the exhibition Myth Makers which presents works by international artists Mary Appleton, Marie Hazard, Anna Perach, Antonio Pichillá Quiacaín, Samuel Sarmiento And Theresa Weber. The exhibition is an invitation to celebrate the uniqueness of the different identities that intertwine meanings around the idea of cultural myth, with the curatorship of Barbara Newman, curator and collector working between Paris and New York, and supporter of emerging international artists. Her work focuses on research, with the aim of fostering collaborations between international artists and galleries.

The future permanent headquarters in Paris and the search for stability in Milan

A practice shared with the gallery owner duo who aims to enhance artists “often overlooked by today’s relatively saturated emerging art market“. To do so with greater determination, they will open a permanent space in the heart of the Marais creative district in Paris in September, “to promote the next generation of curators, collectives, gallery owners and artists, providing them with a space for research, experimentation and development”. And with an eye also on Milan: “we really like the creative area full of interesting galleries, we are trying to find agreements to confirm our presence and also for a broader project with other galleries, to bring other new and foreign realities to this extremely dynamic city”.
