PALERMO – Fires last night in the woods of Termini Imerese (Palermo). The firefighters had to intervene twice to put out the flames which devoured a few hectares of Mediterranean scrub. A first intervention around midnight and a second after a few hours.
The firefighters also intervened in Palermo in via Carmelo Lazzaro in the area of the Civic hospital to put out the fire that broke out in an abandoned structure where waste of all kinds was piled up.
Investigations underway
Investigations are underway by the firefighters and the police into the fire which heavily damaged the walkway in via Messina Marine. It seems that the flames started from piles of waste and enveloped the wooden structure. The hypothesis is that a cylinder also exploded.
+The Romagnolo walkway built in 2003 by the Province of Palermo, costing 2.5 million euros, it has been abandoned for years and is a shelter for the homeless. Yesterday the fire was put out only late at night. The wooden structure had also been seized and several times were were presented to the prosecutor’s office. In recent years she has gone up in flames several times.
