Baby players celebrating with rugby champions

CONEGLIANO – None other than Marzio Innocenti, national president of the Fir (Italian rugby federation), wanted to be present to demonstrate his sympathy and closeness, who thanked the boys for being protagonists of “a special initiative”. Also present were the sporting director of Benetton Rugby Antonio Pavanello and the player Federico Ruzza, the Città della Speranza Tournament took place in the city yesterday, now in its 17th edition, in which sport, research and solidarity come together. The event, held at the municipal rugby stadium in Viale dello Sport in Campolongo, was organized by the Rugby Club Conegliano, chaired by Massimo Antoniazzi. It was a great celebration because, in addition to the competitions on the pitch, it supported the research activities of the Città della Speranza Foundation, a pediatric research institute at the forefront of commitment in the sector of onco-haematological and rare diseases in children. Representing the Foundation was Anna Gasparotto.

«Our objective – he explained – is the establishment of a second Research Tower, to respond, once again, to a need of young patients and their families, who place hopes in the solution of malignant diseases, and to respond to a the needs of the territory, of researchers, of businesses, of students”. On this occasion, approximately 4 thousand euros were donated to the City of Hope. Almost 500 children, both boys and girls, from nine clubs in the region, took part in the competitions, for the under 6, under 8 and under 12 categories, while more than two thousand people watched with enthusiasm in the stands.
