The organizing committee of the “UNEDITED COLLINE DI TORINO AWARD” announces the finalists selected by the jury in this 2024 edition.

The competition attracted an extraordinary number of literary works, making naming finalists a daunting and challenging task.

Across a wide range of styles, genres and voices, the finalists represent the best of literary creativity and mastery.

This year it was selected in the “Song Lyrics” section Jego, aka Nicola Banchioborn in Savigliano but resident in Cuneo.

“Jego” was invented years ago in Nicola’s head. It is the union of “Je” first person singular French and “Ego”. The two parts, together, become Jego which simply means myself.

His musical project was born from a primordial impulse: to put into words and music the stories that permeate life, capturing the very essence of human existence.

It all began in May 2016, when he stood out as one of the finalists of the “Duel Cantautori” competition, organized by Federico Sirianni and Tiberio Ferracane at the “Officine Corsare” in Turin. Further confirmation – if ever it were needed – of this artist’s talent and versatility in transforming life experiences into compelling melodies.

2022 marked an important milestone with the release of the single “Even we were error”, a preview of the album “EMK”. The latter was then published in September of the same year, bearing the title “Radici”. A work that was able to tell the profound origins from which Jego draws inspiration, mixing sounds and engaging lyrics.

The rise reached new heights in 2023, when he performed as an opening artist for Elma Nolde, at the Magda Olivero theater in Saluzzo, on February 17. He now looks to the future with passion and the resulting determination.

The songs presented in these competitions could soon be part of his new musical project. He plans to form a quartet and record a collection of songs scheduled for early 2025. This selection represents contemporary writing and music. His inclusion is a tribute to his commitment, talent and dedication to the literary form.

The 23rd edition of the UNEDITED COLLINE DI TORINO PRIZE will end on Saturday 11 May at 1.00 pm with the announcement of the winners at the Arena Piemonte of the Turin Book Fair and the award ceremony at 8.30 pm at the Vittoria theater in via Antonio Gramsci, also in Turin, through the awarding of prizes and the reading dedicated to the winners’ works.
