The moment when it will arrive in theaters is getting closer and closer The Wellthe long-awaited horror film directed by the director and frontman of Tiromancino Federico Zampaglione. We have already talked to you about the project in recent months, but now it needs to be registered a first sensational result.
According to what is reported, the film distributed by Hyperuranium Film in collaboration with CG Entertainment it’s already been sold in over 80 countries of the world, including the United States. Numbers from absolute record for an Italian horror film and which is therefore preparing to begin its tour in theaters around the world.
Directed by the same director as Black Two-Family, Shadow, Tulpa – Mortal Perditions And Morrison, The Well it is written by Zampaglione himself with the producer Stefano Masi. He is played by Lauren LaVera (already the protagonist of Terrifier 2), Claudia Gerini, Lorenzo Renzi, Linda Zampaglione, Jonathan Dylan King, Taylor Zaudtke, Gianluigi Calvani, Yassine Fadel and Courage Oviawe; in addition, it also sees the interpretation of Giovanni Lombardo Radice in his last film role, filmed before his passing. The Well tells the story of Lisa Gray (Lauren LaVera), an American art restorer on her first important mission, called to a small Italian village to restore a medieval painting ruined by a fire to its former glory. She doesn’t know that she is putting her life in danger, due to an ancient curse that generates evil creatures, blood and atrocious suffering. “The Well is my darkest, most disturbing and ferocious film…. but I also find it desperately romantic – comments Zampaglione – I have always deeply loved this genre, because it speaks to the human soul, investigates our unknown fears and gets lost in deep darkness, clinging to a thread of light. The Well pushes you to the most extreme emotions, destroying the boundary between reality and fantasy, between Good and Evil, Life and Death. You will discover that Evil has new depths.
The film has already received applause and acclaim from critics and the public at the horror and fantasy world festivals in which it was presented: it passed Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival (Midnight X-treme section), allo Screamfest Horror Film Festival of Los Angeles, at the Fantasporto Oporto International Film Festival at the Glasgow Film Festival, passing through the Trieste Science+Fiction Festival and the Ravenna Nightmare Film Fest.
The Well will arrive in theaters on July 18, 2024, thanks to a record already achieved for Italian genre cinema. Will it be one of the surprises of the year?
