“In none of the ongoing investigations of which we have news, the Administration led by me is involved in any capacity. I thank the president and all the members of the Commission for having listened to me for so long: I have always had the desire to be listened to by the Commission Anti-mafia”. Michele Emiliano said this, speaking to the press at the end of his hearing in the Anti-Mafia Commission today in Rome. During his speech Emiliano answered the questions of the members of the commission, returning to some events such as the episode of the meeting with the boss’s sister told from the stage of the March 23 demonstration in Bari, and the arrest of the former commissioner Arti Pisicchio, who resigned a few hours before ending up under house arrest.

“As president of the Puglia Region – continued Emiliano – I want to defend my region from any type of stain that concerns our popular anti-mafia militancy. All the people of Puglia are aligned against the mafias, against malfeasance, with exceptions that exist in all the community I thank the people of Puglia for the support they have always given me in this fight against corruption and the mafia, and I also thank them because they are changing history. The data on the economic development trend of the Puglia region are the best among all the Italian regions and, as a trend, even better than the Northern regions. This is the result of very hard work, first of all by the people of Puglia and then also by the institutions that represent them”.
