Imbersago: the Holy Mass with Gianni Cesena opens the party

It officially began with the 11am Holy Mass, presided over by Monsignor Gianni Cesenaepiscopal vicar of the Lecco area, the Feast of the Sanctuary of the Madonna del Bosco.

The mayor of Imbersago Fabio Vergani, the deputy mayor Elena Codara, the councilor Francesco Cagliani, the councilor Alfredo Casaletto of Merate, the lieutenant Edonio Pecoraro and the priests of the Deanery of Brivio, welcomed the prelate together with numerous faithful who packed the Sanctuary.

Having arrived in Imbersago for the first time to preside over the solemn Eucharist, the vicar in his homily invited a reflection on the perfect man, prompted by the words of Saint Paul. A provocation aimed at humanity which has always yearned for perfection and its success which oscillates between two contrasting results: the temptation of omnipotence and pain.

Often human beings tend to see nothing other than their own objectives and desires, censoring their own defects, in a “delirium”, defined as such by science, which is propagated in the political, sporting, economic but also war fields. Victory must always be overwhelming, capable of completely obliterating the opponent and enemy. The monsignor revealed that fulfillment cannot, however, be achieved in this way, as the burdens and pains of existence, which can lead to depression, encourage one to do nothing and lead a harmful life.

However, religion is also no stranger to this presumption. The disciples are the first to stare at the sky, not accepting the new form of Jesus after death, in a desire for a past that prevents them from welcoming the Holy Spirit that the Lord had anticipated with the sacrifice. Likewise, man undertakes an escape towards heaven when the life of the body becomes tiring. “This is not a suitable and coherent faith, the angels remind us to look at the earth and not at the sky, because the risen Jesus sent his followers here”.

Father Giulio Binaghi

Saint Paul’s question finds an answer in the figure of Jesus, the only perfect man. Perfect not for his qualities or behavior, but for his ascension to heaven. “The faithful must reach the fullness of Christ through the perfection of Jesus. To do so, Mary reveals that it is necessary to build the body of Christ, as she was the first to do by welcoming him into her womb”. This is therefore the mission that is entrusted to believers, that of making the word, charity, love and gestures of the Lord present. “We must not expect them from others or from miracles, but from ourselves who are seeds of the Lord”. To carry out this desire, it is not necessary to pursue an individualism in which today the search for perfection can be translated, but it is necessary to transform the body into the Church aware of being the bearer of the sign of Jesus in the world. Only through participation in the Mass can one arrive at the knowledge and experience of Jesus in order to entrust oneself to him, as Mary did, abandoning herself to her son, concluded the vicar.

There will be numerous appointments at the Sanctuary during the month of May, opportunities for prayer that will lead to the preparation of the Holy Year 2025.
