Drama a Reggio Calabria this evening: at Barre, in via Verdirame near the Calopinace links and therefore the historic city centre, at 9.20pm approximately a gas cylinder exploded on the ground floor of a three-storey building. In the apartment they lived four citizens of Indian nationality. One of them was recovered and is alive, even though his condition is critical. Based on the first fragmentary information arriving from the site of the explosion, his face was completely burned and he was rescued in the last few minutes by the ambulances that rushed to the scene. According to other information, his limbs were burned but not his face. These are very excited moments and information arrives in fits and starts.
It is not clear whether the other three whether or not they were at home at the time of the explosion. Rescuers are trying to put out the fire and inspect the premises.
