GIULIANOVA. The “Unica beach” dog beach in Giulianova is confirmed for this season, but for the next few years it risks changing its position on the beach or even disappearing. For this reason yesterday morning, the vet Giusy Branellaowner of Unica beach, and president of the “Environmental Task Force” Giuliano Marsili they reiterated that Unica beach should remain where it is now for the next few years, also because many hotels that accept dogs, the so-called “pet friendly” hotels, are in the northern area. «In 2012 this beach was commissioned by the former mayor Francesco Mastromauro“, said Branella, “it was new at the time. For six years there was a battle because many citizens and even hoteliers, at the beginning, didn’t want it. In 2018 it was finally established and entrusted to me for three years. At the beginning there were prejudices, but then everything changed, and I gained the trust of many operators in the sector because it was and is a tourism opportunity.”
Branella and Marsili recalled the importance of pet-friendly tourism for any city. «The current administration has certainly not favored the beach for dogs», added Branella, «in fact it has opposed it and continues to do so with the new beach plan.
