European elections, Manfredonia: majority clarify that anti-fascism is a universal value

“The majority should make it clear that being anti-fascist is a universal value.” This is asked by Emiliano Manfredonia, President of the Acli, who insists: “The unsaid leaves room for misunderstandings, especially if one supports the candidacy of Vannacci, who has made worrying statements to say the least, defining Mussolini as a statesman like Cavour, declaring that I am not anti-fascist and in favor of truncheons used on students.” Serious statements, especially for someone who is running to “represent us in a Europe already crossed by nationalism and extremism”. After the censure of Scurati, “it seems to me that anti-fascism, which we have just celebrated on April 25, is not a value for some and, indeed, in some protagonists of our political panorama the opposite sentiment prevails”, continues Manfredonia, who underlines like “Vannacci’s calls for the ghettoization of the disabled or the exaltation of the sporting performances of some excellent students among the school students sound sadly similar to the ideas of the fascist regime”. Hence the invitation from the number one of the ACLI to “withdraw the candidacy of such a character or, at least, to distance himself from him by the governing majority: once and for all, this political party must resolve its relationship with fascism and clearly state which side you are on. Let us not forget that fascism proliferated not because it represented the thoughts of the majority, but because of the servility of the hierarchs and the fearful silence of good people.”
