six injured including two children, near tragedy in Abruzzo

A near-tragedy occurred yesterday in Sulmona (L’Aquila), where a car went wild, ending up on the outside of a club and injuring six people, including two minors.

As the Ansa news agency reconstructs, it happened in the early afternoon, around 2.30 pm, in Largo Faraglia, right in the historic centre. According to what has been reconstructed, a Ford Eco Sport, owned by a tourist, parked on one side of the square, sped off, traveling several meters until it crashed violently into tables, chairs and customers of the bar.

Panic arose among the patrons of the club. Rescue efforts began immediately: six people were transferred to Sulmona hospital by ambulance, including two children and a young man who injured his leg in an attempt to stop the car.

The police intervened on site to reconstruct what happened and the traffic police provided support. “There is damage amounting to 2 thousand euros. A near tragedy”, the owner of the bar where the incident occurred commented to Ansa.
