Today in Modica is not a Sunday like the others: it is the day of the long-awaited feast of the patron saint of Modica, San Giorgio. Awaited by devotees and citizens, it opens with the holy masses at the Cathedral and with the ‘Belluardo-Risadelli’ band through the streets of the city to mark this day of celebration. This afternoon, preceding the key moment, the Holy Mass presided over by the Parish Priest Father Michele Fidone, in the presence of the civil and military authorities, the Catholic association of bearers of St. George the Martyr and the Frederickian Knights Templar. The triumphal “Sciuta” of the relics and simulacrum of San Giorgio Martire is scheduled for 4pm.
