Cagliari The PD leaders are doing everything they can to prevent Campo Largo from dissolving just over a month before the municipal elections in Cagliari. Tomorrow afternoon he will try to mend the rift between the Progressives, Five Star, Red Greens, Socialists-Sardinians in Europe and the Future Left in an emergency summit called.

Difficult negotiations The mediation of the provincial secretary of the Dems, Guido Portuguesebegan immediately after that Massimo Zedda of the Progressives, he is the candidate for mayor of the centre-left-M5s, has announced that he has thrown open the doors of the coalition also to «Azione», the party of Carlo Calenda. The reaction of a large part of Campo Largo was immediate, with threats, not even very veiled, to leave the alliance, because the agreements were of a completely different type, namely: «No new entries to the municipal elections compared to the group that won the elections Regional if not that of some real civic lists.”

Instead, according to the protests, Zedda favored and then accepted the support of «Azione», which among other things on 25 February was aligned with an opposing coalition, the one led by Renato Soru. «Faced with this unilateral decision by Zedda – was the ultimatum launched by the Five Star Movement – we are ready to run alone». The same hypothesis of leaving was also put forward by Sinistra futuro, Socialisti and RossoVerdi. The tension between the two blocs has risen again in recent days, but the time for a possible reconciliation has now been reduced to a minimum. The lists for the municipal elections must be presented by May 11th.

Dancer action The latest decision by Calenda’s party also made the situation even more heated. In Sassari and Alghero, in fact, he will support the two centre-right candidacies for mayor: Gavino Mariotti And Marco Tedde. «At the administrative elections in Cagliari, we certainly cannot run – was the comment collected in the Campo largo – with those who even play on multiple tables depending on the Municipality». In essence, on the eve of the summit, the message sent by the Five Star Movement and the other parties to the Progressives was clear: “Let them choose between us and Action”.

Last chance Tomorrow’s meeting, at this point, will be a showdown. With the Democratic Party launching a final appeal to everyone: “Let’s discuss, let’s clarify but let’s not throw Campo Largo into the sea.”
