The State Police arrested a 23-year-old convicted felon for illegal possession of weapons, receiving stolen goods and illicit possession of ammunition of various calibers.
The operation took place in the “Pigno” neighborhood during a check aimed at combating drug dealing.
The agents of the Flying Squad, during a house search at the young man’s home, found a veritable arsenal:
- A Revolver pistol cal. 357 Magnum with 6 cartridges
- A Revolver pistol cal. 38 specials
- A rifle cal. 12
- An over and under shotgun cal. 12
- 158 cartridges of various calibers
When the police arrived, the 23-year-old attempted to get rid of the weapons by throwing a bag from the rear balcony of the house. The action did not escape the notice of the officers stationed at the back of the building, who managed to recover the bag containing the weapons.
The weapons, after the necessary checks by the Scientific Police, were seized. The 23-year-old was arrested and taken to the Catania Piazza Lanza prison.
