four appointments at the Boncontro library in Chieti

In May, the month of books, the Masci Chieti 1 Community (Adult Scouts) organized four events at the Boncontro library in Chieti Scalo (Piazza S. Pio more adult.

Friday 3 May, 6pm

“Naked”. It is a collection of short stories by Lelia Ranalletta, Tabula Fati publisher, 2024. It is a reflection on one’s previous family experience (childhood and parents’ life) and on one’s experience, linked in particular to childhood. An internal journey that was transformed into an expert narration of a theatine. Dialogue with the author: Lucia Vaccarella. Vocals and guitar, Antonio Gentile. Reading of selected passages: Carla Ricci.

Friday 10 May, 6pm

“…Not even sumendas.” Very nice book that traces the childhood and youth of the author, Giustino Angeloni, who lived in Civitella and lived the life of the Civitella football field, his relationship, as a true Teatino, with the neroverde team. A book published in 2006 and sold like hot cakes.

Friday 24 May, 6pm

“The Jungle Book” by R. Kipling. May 25th and 26th are World Children’s Day. It seemed appropriate to present a book for children and the most interesting is The Jungle Book, chosen by Baden Powell, the founder of Scouting, as the basis of the Cub Scout methodology. A book written almost a century ago, with humanized animals (Akela, Bakera, Baloo, etc.), but which has remained exceptional and taken as a reference for millions and millions of children all over the world. An appointment that will not be a classic presentation, but which will involve the children present.

Friday 31 May, 6pm

Mario D’Alessandro has written many books relating to our city: Chieti. One of the most interesting and nice is certainly “The cellars of Chieti” Opera Editrice, 2006. It describes the Chieti of the first decades of the twentieth century, highlighting how the city was full of the classic cellars of the past, where the workers, after a day’s work, they entertained themselves, among the smoke, a game of cards and a glass of wine. And he mentions them all, noting how each one was particular. In addition to the wine that each cellar master procured from the farmer in his area or in his hometown, there were delicacies: some sausages, some olives, some cheese. Some wineries were renowned for the proactivity of the cellar manager, others for the friendliness of the latter.
