Satisfied with this heartfelt victory?“For the first time since I’ve been at Toro we’ve stolen a game. In many matches I complained because we didn’t win despite having created more. Today I didn’t like the team and we didn’t do well, then there were ten minutes of good momentum. The boys who came in from the bench did very well. However, the performance was negative.”
Did Taurus need a slap? “We had little of everything, little intensity, little everything. We rightly went behind, then there was a bit of pride. The two Primavera players gave us momentum, for the first time this year he scored a fifth on an assist from the other fifth, a sign of life, he had determination and desire to score goals. Did you see grit in Lazaro? “I think he could have given much more but today he entered well. Maybe he moves better on the right, he played little there for Bellanova. Everyone who came in after today turned the team around.”
Europe still possible? What are you asking for in the last two games?“They have been three excellent years, always on the left side of the table after inheriting a team fighting for survival. They have been three intense, beautiful years, with a lot of good work, now I would like them to end well, with the spirit with which we finished this match, despite the many absences that have devastated us this year.”
Satisfied with Pellegri’s return to scoring?“I would be satisfied if he had a good career, if he found stability and if he managed to have fun. In my opinion he has the ability to become an excellent striker but he must find stability in every sense.”
Is this an important victory also to mend ties with the fans?“Everything that happened, from the whistles after Bologna to what happened at Superga, was hard to manage. If a society isn’t united in every sense, it doesn’t get far. In Turin there is a lot of division. We enjoy these good moments, because being on the left side of the table is nice. I wish we all loved each other more.”
Did this also influence the non-renewal?“No. My players have done well for three years, they have achieved individual and other team goals. I would like this to be appreciated and I would like there to be a push, like the one we saw today here in Verona, capable of pushing the players to go further.”
