A shocking and potentially deadly surprise for a woman from Bangalore, India, inside the package she ordered from Amazon. When she unwrapped the box containing a controller for her Xbox, Tanvi – this is the woman’s name – discovered a very venomous cobra still alive. Luckily, the reptile had stuck to the packing tape and was therefore unable to attack her.
The video on social media
After the scare, Tanvi was quick to film the scene and report what had happened. Accusations about the lack of controls rage on Indian social media: “Amazon’s negligence is very serious. How much are warehouse workers paid for risking their lives with such a dangerous reptile? Where are Amazon’s controls on warehouses and the transport system if do similar accidents happen?”, users wrote.
The company apologizes
Amazon reacted by apologizing for the incident and ensuring an immediate investigation, as well as reimbursing the customer. “What should I get for risking my life?” asked Tanvi, who posted the video on her X profile. specimen was captured and then released into the forest.
Extremely poisonous snake
The snake, belonging to the naja naja family, better known as the spectacled cobra or Indian cobra, is widespread in the Indian subcontinent. It is part of the so-called ‘Big Four’, the four most venomous and dangerous snakes in India: the Russell’s viper, the common krait (or common krait), the rostrated viper and, indeed, the spectacled cobra.
