Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived today in Crimeafor an unannounced visit on the day that marks the ninth anniversary of the peninsula’s annexation to the Russia. Putin’s appearance in the symbolic place of total confrontation between Moscow and Kiev comes the day after the issuance of the arrest warrant that the International Criminal Court in The Hague issued against him for war crimes committed during the war of Fly against Kiev, in particular for its established «responsibility» in the plan deportation of Ukrainian children in Russia. Videos released online by Moscow broadcasters today show the Russian president visiting the Korsun School of Art and Children’s Center, accompanied by the governor of Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozhayev, and other local officials. Crimea was annexed by the Kremlin in 2014, in what Ukraine considers the beginning of the war which then expanded into large-scale conflict from February 23, 2022. Despite the calls of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for the withdrawal of Russian troops from the region, and the more or less explicitly hatched sabotages by Ukraine in the peninsula, Putin has never shown no intention of wanting to back downinstead reiterating the importance of maintaining Russian garrisons in the region.
