EU, the League joins Orban’s group. Salvini’s move to count

In the new Europe that looks to the right, Matteo wants to return to being a protagonist. Salvini does not hesitate and immediately makes an iron pact with the Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who yesterday announced the birth of a new alliance. The “alternative current”, as the Magyar defined it, will be composed of the Austrian Herbert Kickl, leader of the Freedom Party and the former Czech minister Andrej Babis. The newborn triumvirate, despite boasting 23 MEPs, does not have the 7 members necessary to create a group in Brussels. This is why the Italian League becomes fundamental for the creation of what should be the great house of sovereignists.

The idea, as announced by the number one of the Carroccio, is to dissolve Identity and Democracy, waiting for Marine Le Pen and work for an expanded container, capable of including both the motion of the East, sponsored by Budapest and those forces, with which the Greens, until yesterday, shared the benches in Parliament. Also in favor of this movement are the Spanish of Salf, the supporters of the Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico and the French of Reconquete. The transalpines who count, those of Rassemblemente National, or those who won by a landslide in the first round of the legislative elections, on the other hand, are not committing themselves. Meloni from beyond the Alps wants to understand how to best exploit the victory over Macron and place herself among the greats of the planet. Salvini, meanwhile, is taking his time. He knows very well that von der Leyen herself, despite bringing together the group leaders, has not yet found the right solution. This is why he has chosen to postpone the constituent meeting of Id from 3 to 8 July, hoping for a broader group. These days, however, will not be wasted by the Minister of Infrastructure, rather they will be used to consolidate the newly elected representation.

Roberto Vannacci, yesterday, for example, opted for the North West constituency, where with 186 thousand preferences he obtained his best electoral result. Therefore, the outgoing Angelo Ciocca will remain out of the team, who is promoted to the captain’s pool: “He has my full respect and trust – says Salvini -. From now on he will work directly alongside me”. A decision, therefore, that closes the doubts regarding the Carroccio team in Europe, which will be composed of: Silvia Sardone, Isabella Tovaglieri, Anna Maria Cisint, Paolo Borchia, Roberto Vannacci, Susanna Ceccardi, Aldo Patriciello and Raffaele Stancanelli.
